Police: Weekend shooting determined to be a homicide, victim identified

DULUTH, MN — A weekend shooting in West Duluth has been ruled a homicide, according to a statement from police Monday afternoon.

Police also identified the victim as Timothy Jon Nelson, 33, of Duluth.

The shooting happened shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday on the N. 300 block of 62nd Avenue West, in the Cody neighborhood.

Nelson died from a gunshot to his abdomen, police said.

The incident is still under investigation.
