Man seriously injured in Cass Co. car vs. tree crash

A 57-year-old man is battling life threatening injuries after his car went off the road and slid into a tree in Cass County early Wednesday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Edward Walter Blomseth of Naytahwaush, Minnesota, was headed north on Highway 371 near Sautbine Road in his 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier around 1:30 a.m. Authorities say that’s when the vehicle lost control going around a curve.

Blomseth was taken to a hospital in Bemidji.

Authorities say alcohol may have been a factor.
