DULUTH, MN — Wells Fargo says all of its branches will extend service by one hour on Friday and Saturday due to ongoing technical issues involving the company’s online and mobile banking.
The system issues were caused by an automatic power shutdown at one of Wells Fargo’s main data-center facilities, which was triggered by a smoke condition created by maintenance in the building.
The company says most critical systems were recovered on Thursday, however the bank is continuing to restore services across all business and operational areas.
In addition, any Wells Fargo fees which happened as a result of the issues will be reversed.
During the restoration process, Wells Fargo says some transactions, balances and payroll deposits weren’t visible in online banking or ATM’s on Thursday or early Friday.
The company says although the transactions weren’t visible, they were processed normally, and customers can confidently use their accounts.
Although the issue has been resolved, there may still be delays in mobile and online banking.
Some features, such as consumer credit card and mortgage balances, aren’t available yet; however, the restoration process is ongoing.
In addition, the contact center systems are restored; however, customers may experience longer than usual delays contacting the phone bank at Wells Fargo.
