Fond du Lac Band building new cultural center

CLOQUET, MN — The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa is breaking ground.

On Wednesday, tribal leaders announced their plans to build a new $4.1 million facility.

It will be the home of the community’s language and cultural health programs.

The building will be located across the street from the Fond du Lac Tribal Center, with offices, conference rooms, a large gathering space and a library inside.

Tribal leaders says it’s a big step forward for the entire community.

“This is a natural evolution for us to provide programming that’s tailored to this community’s needs, and there’s a number of communities around the country that are looking to this option,” FDL Director of Human Services Samuel Moose says.

Construction should be finished by March.
