Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

SUPERIOR, WI — April 26, 2019 will mark the one-year anniversary of the Husky Energy refinery fire and explosion in Superior, and CBS 3 Duluth will be devoting an entire newscast to covering the event.

During the newscast, we will sit down for a one-on-one with Superior Mayor Jim Paine, who played a major role in making sure community members knew where to go during the evacuation. He’ll detail what he learned that day and any changes he’s made because of it.

In addition, we’ll take a look at what Husky has done during the past year and explore the refinery’s future, including how officials plan to make it safer and more energy efficient.

We will also speak with first responders as they recall being on the front lines. They’ll explain how their training played a critical role in the community’s safety.

Join us Friday for a special report, with team coverage commemorating the incident, on CBS 3 Duluth News at 6.
