Kevin Jacobsen, an Emmy-Award winning journalist, is the news director for KBJR 6.
Kevin arrived in Duluth in November 2008. He anchored the news on CBS 3 (then KDLH) until moving over to anchor the KBJR 6 News at 6 and 10. In June 2015 he stepped behind the scenes as assistant news director. He was promoted to news director in August 2017.
Before arriving in the Northland, Kevin was an early riser, anchoring the morning news on KMEG-TV in Sioux City, Iowa. He also worked as a reporter at News 12 Connecticut. Kevin got his start in television news interning with WRNN-TV in New York while in High School. His spring, summer and winter breaks in college were spent shooting news in and around his hometown for News 12 Hudson Valley.
Kevin received a B.S. in Television News from Lyndon State College, a tiny school in a small corner of Vermont known as the Northeast Kingdom.
Kevin, a dual-citizen of Denmark, was born and raised just outside New York City to proud Danish parents. He didn’t waste any time getting into the news business. He had press credentials before getting his driver’s license.
Kevin and his wife, Annie, live in Duluth’s East Hillside and are in good company with their dog, Rory, and their cat, Misse (Danish for kitty).
In his spare time, Kevin keeps tabs on family in Denmark, digital photography and trying his best not to land his golf ball in the rough.
