Emily Larson

Current Mayor Emily Larson says she is running for re-election in order to continue work on moving forward.

In her first term, Larson says she has focused on the historic inequities and challenges which divide and test the community, such as the quality of parks and streets, life expectancy differences between neighborhoods, as well as safety and security.

In addition, she says the city is confident they will reach the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 15% at the end of the year, which she says is a down-payment on the commitment to reduce pollution by 80% by 2050.

She says there is still a need for affordable housing, as well as repairs on streets and sidewalks, and a need for building on relationships with the Fond du Lac tribe and St. Louis County to tackle regional solutions to shared problems.
