Essentia fitness and therapy center to relocate to first floor of former Duluth Younkers

DULUTH, MN — A $15 million investment by Essentia for purchasing the former Duluth Younkers space in the Miller Hall Mall will help relocate the Fitness and Therapy Center.

Essentia made the purchasing announcement of the 145,000 square foot space on Monday, and says they plan to move into the first floor this fall.

There are still plans under development for the rest of the building, and will be announced when finalized.

Essentia says the acquistion of the area will help offer a variety of services to patients at a convenient location which has free parking.

The Fitness and Therapy Center will fill half of the former department store’s first floor, and will offer the following:

  • A larger exercise area
  • Larger locker rooms
  • More exercise equipment
  • Larger aerobics studio
  • Two dedicated therapy gyms for more privacy
  • Expanded personal training services
  • Walking track

The company says there will be a therapy pool, but no lap pool.

Essentia says the staff of trainers, teachers, and therapists will stay the same.

We will hear from Essentia on the CBS 3 Duluth News at 6.
