DULUTH, MN — After a rocky start, CHUM officials say they have passed their goal of 1,400 backpacks in their annual donation event.

Last week, the organization said they were 800 backpacks short of where they wanted to be, but now the backpacks are being prepped to be handed out to kids in need.

You can pick up a backpack filled with school supplies at the following locations on August 22 from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.:

  • Central Hillside Community Center – 12 East 4th Street
  • Morgan Park Community Center – 1242 88th Avenue West
  • Portman Community Center – 4601 McCulloch Street

Anyone requesting a backpack may need to show identification for each student, including:

  • School ID
  • Social Security card
  • Medical card
  • Birth certificate
