UMD softball squeezes into NCAA tournament

Duluth, Minn. — It was just last Friday when the UMD softball team was knocked out of the NSIC tournament by Winona State. from there… it was time for the waiting game… as the team awaited their fate on whether or not an NCAA tournament berth was in the cards.

UMD will indeed be playing in their ninth NCAA tournament in program history… third in four years. UMD grabbed the final at-large bid into the central region and will be one of four teams representing in Edmond, Oklahoma this Thursday for a double-elimination sub regional.

UMD will have what is most likely the toughest test. They’ll take on the number one seeded University of Central Oklahoma in the first round of the central regional. That game set to begin on Thursday at 2:30pm.
