CSS tennis racks up UMAC honors ahead of NCAA tournament

Duluth, Minn. — The College of Saint Scholastica tennis teams racked up the UMAC post-season awards as the teams prepare for the NCAA tournament.

Head coach Wells Patten was named UMAC coach of the year.

For the third year in a row, Serhii Tykhonenko is the UMAC player of the year. Elliot Schneider and Rafa Gonzalez both claim spots on the all-conference squad.

On the women’s team, Seniors Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) and Sara Wennerstrand (Baxter, Minn. /Brainerd HS (Saint Benedict)), along with junior Elizabeth Fink (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century HS) and freshmen Brynne Hauer (Duluth, Minn. /Duluth East HS) and Madilyn Jankila (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) were all named to the All-UMAC team.
