From Becker, MN to the NFL: Dawson Brown shows you can fulfill your dreams at any level

Arden Hills, Minn. — We all know the story… how Adam Thielen went from undrafted rookie to NFL superstar.

There’s a similar story with Denfeld alum, CJ Ham who went from Augstana College to the Vikings.

Both guys someone like Bethel University’s Dawson Brown looks up to…. and hopefully… will follow in the footsteps of…

“Growing up you always have that dream of oh yeah I wanna play in the NFL. I think every kid in sixth grade wrote down I want to be an NFL player. So that was always a dream of mine. It didn’t really become a reality until recently that I felt like oh maybe this could happen,” Brown said.

Following this past season, Brown began working out at ETS performance… where Thielen works out.

“The main guy who started ETS would tell us about Adam Thielen… and he would say that he was the hardest worker in the room every single day and that didn’t happen when he heard he was going to the Viking’s mini-camp… and that was before Adam even knew he was going to have an opportunity. That was a big encouragement to me.”

After attending the NFL’s pro day a few months back… Dawson got three different invites from NFL teams inviting him to their mini-camps. One from New Orleans, one from Cincinnati and one from Atlanta…

“I got a call and he was like this is so and so from the saints and I was like ‘whoa’… and I kind of paused for a second… like the Saint Paul Saints.. oh no the New Orleans Saints… so that was kind of cool.”

In the end, Dawson chose Atlanta.

1.6 percent of draft-eligible division one football players… are drafted by NFL teams. Last year, there were 83 total division two players on NFL rosters. There were 12 division three players. It’s not easy to make the NFL… but guys like Adam Thielen, CJ Ham and even Dawson shows that it comes down to how bad you want it and your work ethic.

“I’m just going to go in and try to honor Christ whether that’s by how I treat the employees or my coaches,” Brown said.
