TWO HARBORS, MN- The defending Section 7AAA champion, Two Harbors Agates will face some challenges this upcoming season.

One being the roster isn’t as deep as it has been in recent years.

The Agates have 11 seniors returning, which includes Quarterback Cole Komarek and running back Karsen Holm.

Head Coach Tom Nelson says his squad is going to be younger this year, but he’s confident that they will be able to take the next step.

“Offensively, I like our backfield and quite honestly I like our line. It’s just that we’re going to be very young. Sometimes that takes a little bit of time, there’s a little bit of a learning curve there. Defensively, I think our athleticism. We aren’t very big, we’re probably going to be the smaller team most games. But you know we can run a little bit,” said Nelson.

“We gotta fill those positions and we gotta work hard. That’s all we gotta do. If we want to be anywhere near last year. We gotta keep working hard, have determination. That’s how we’re going to have our success,” added Komarek.

“I really think everyone here can play. It’s just the matter of who wants to play the most. There’s lots of competition and competition drives the person to play their best so I’m confident in what we can do this year,” said Holm.

Two Harbors opens the season on the road at Cloquet on August 30th.
