Duluth police say ‘mistaken identity’ assault suspects not considered public threat

DULUTH, MN – Duluth police say no one is currently in custody after a ‘mistaken identity’ assault report.

Police responded at 1 a.m. Thursday to the report of an assault at a location on the 800 Block of W 4th St. in Duluth.

Police say upon preliminary investigation, it appears to be a case of ‘mistaken identity’.

Police say those responsible are not thought to be a threat to the public.

Officials added the assault victim received minor injuries, but declined medical care.

However, the victim shared with CBS 3 Duluth about her injuries around 5 p.m. Thursday:

“I just came back from the hospital. I think I was still in shock last night. I have a concussion, chest wall contusion and cracked rib.”

This is an ongoing investigation.
