Male injured in officer-involved shooting near Hill City

HILL CITY, MN — Authorities say one person is hospitalized after an officer-involved shooting near Hill City.

According to the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called to a home on Walker Road near Hill City for a domestic assault call just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities say deputies attempted to make contact, and at one point, a man fired his weapon. Deputies then fired their weapons.

The man who fired was injured, and is currently hospitalized at St. Mary’s in Duluth.

The extent of his injuries, as well as his condition, are unknown at this time. Authorities did not specify how many deputies fired their weapons or which agency they work for.

Authorities say the BCA is investigating the shooting incident, and the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the domestic assault complaint.
