Northland gearing up to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

DULUTH, MN– With St. Patrick’s Day coming up this Sunday, we have a few events that are taking place around the Northland that might perk your interest.

Dubh Linn’s Irish Brew Pub, which has been voted as one of the top St. Patrick’s Day events in Minnesota, will be serving items from a special made from scratch menu all weekend.

In addition, the Brew Pub will have green beer, games like hammershlagen, prizes, and entertainment, including a bagpipe and drum band at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, and will open at 10 a.m. on Sunday, and will again have hammershlagen, along with live and local Irish music from 10 a.m. through 8:30 p.m.

If your looking for some exercise before you begin celebrating, Grandma’s Marathon is hosting its 6th annual Saint Fennessy 4K Fun Run Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

The race begins at Hermantown High School, and finishing in Hermantown square near McKenzie’s Bar & Grill.

A post-race party will follow at the finish line including live music and an entertainment tent.

All proceeds will benefit the Young Athletes Foundations, a program ran by Grandma’s Marathon that focuses on promoting active lifestyles for younger people living in Douglas, Cook, Carlton, Lake and St. Louis counties.

Minnesota and Wisconsin each have two cities in the top 20 in the U.S. for the best St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations. Madison ranks third, Milwaukee is 11th, Minneapolis is 13th and St. Paul in 20th.

No matter what event you decide to partake in, authorities remind everyone to drink responsibly, and always plan for a sober ride.
