Cause of fatal Moose Lake plane crash still unknown

MOOSE LAKE, MN — The NTSB has released its preliminary report for the investigation into what caused a plan to crash which killed the pilot last week in Carlton County.

As we reported last week, Doctor Thomas Stillwell, 65, took off from the Moose Lake Airport and was en-route to Crystal Minnesota when the crash happened.

The report released this week does not list a cause.

It does lay out wind speeds, visibility and other weather conditions at the time of the crash.

We expect to learn more when the final report is released.

No word on when that will be.
