Coast Guard rescues woman, dogs from bottom of cliff

CLEVELAND– The United States Coast Guard rescued a woman and her dogs from a cliff near Ludington, Michigan on Friday.

The woman and her husband had been hiking along Lake Michigan on Thursday with their three dogs when they descended down the cliff to the shoreline and were unable to get back up due to loose soil and sand.

The couple was unable to contact first responders due to a lack of cell service and had to spend the night on the shoreline.

On Friday, the woman’s husband was able to climb back up and notify first responders.

After a failed attempt to rescue the woman and her dogs from a response boat, the Coast Guard launched two helicopters, and they were then able to rescue the woman and her dogs.

Officials say no injuries were reported.
