Trail camera captures cougar on Red Cliff reservation

RED CLIFF, WI — The Red Cliff game warden says the department has no reason to doubt the authenticity of a photo submitted to them earlier this week of what appears to be a cougar in the area.

David Curran submitted the photo to the department this week after his camera captured the animal on camera just after 3 p.m. on August 13.

Curran says he put the camera up about four weeks ago, and has hunted in the area for years and never saw a cougar.

The Red Cliff game warden says they confirmed the location of the photo, which was taken on the Red Cliff Reservation area.

Officials with the department say they believe the cougar was carrying a coyote in its mouth when the photo was taken.
