Bear cub causes crash in Floodwood Township

FLOODWOOD TOWNSHIP– A bear cub caused a two-vehicle crash in Floodwood Township on Saturday afternoon.

The Minnesota State Patrol says a Ford F150 was traveling westbound on Highway 2, and a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on Highway 2 when a bear cub ran into the road.

The Ford swerved to avoid the cub, causing the truck to go across the centerline and hit the Chevrolet.

The lone driver of the Ford was not injured.

Of the three people in the Chevrolet, two were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

No word on the bear cub’s condition.

Cloquet Fire, Floodwood Fire, St Louis County Sheriff, Floodwood Police, and St Louis County Rescue all responded to the incident.
