Representatives Jen Schultz, Liz Olson, Rob Ecklund to advocate infrastructure improvements

DULUTH, MN– Three Northland DFL representatives are advocating for some improvements of infrastructure in the Northland.

On Tuesday, Rep. Jen Schultz (DFL-Duluth) and Rep. Liz Olson (DFL-Duluth) will be welcoming the House Capital Investment Committee (HCIC), chaired by Rep. Mary Murphy (DFL-Hermantown) and Representative Rob Ecklund (DFL-International Falls) will help welcome the HCIC on Wednesday.

The visit comes as part of the committee’s northeastern Minnesota tour, that will be visiting different sites that have proposal in for infrastructure improvement projects.

The group will be touring the following locations in Duluth Tuesday:

  • Lake Superior Zoo at 12:45 p.m.
  • WLSSD at 1:30 p.m.
  • Lake Superior College at 2:30 p.m.
  • Duluth Depot at 4 p.m.
  • The Duluth Seawall, Lakewalk and Canal Park at 5 p.m.

Once those tours have completed, the committee will then travel to UMD for a tour of A.B. Anderson Hall at 6 p.m. to hear presentations on Glensheen and Rice Lake Water and Sewer. Their tour will conclude at 7:30 p.m. with a tour of WDSE-TV.

The group will then tour the following locations in northern Minnesota on Wednesday:

  • The Two Harbors Community Center at 8:15 a.m. to learn about the proposed improvements to the Two Harbors Wastewater Treatment Facility
  • Split Rock Lighthouse at 9:15 a.m.
  • Tour of the Silver Bay Veterans home at 10:30 a.m., where they are also scheduled to hear presentations on the Babbitt Wastewater Treatment Plant and Babbitt Recreational Area Campground
  • Lake Vermillion State Park at 1:45 p.m.

In the 2020 session, House DFLers are set to announce a robust and regionally-balanced bonding bill that will invest in infrastructure, along with protecting the vitality of local economies and creating jobs.
