ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MN– After two days of investigating, details are still scarce in what St. Louis County authorities are calling a “suspicious” death in Makinen, which is about 20 miles southeast of Virginia.

Authorities say Frank Gerald Meyer, 47, was found at a home around 1 p.m. Tuesday after a 911 call requesting a welfare check. He had not been heard from for days prior to when he was found.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office searched a residence on the 3300 block of Curt Lane, just off of Wilson Road in Makinen.

Investigators took down the yellow crime scene tape just before 6:00 Wednesday evening.

Authorities say the residence they investigated today was Meyers’ home, and the same place he was found deceased.

Officials say Meyer died under suspicious circumstances, but have not said how he died.

Lieutenant Nate Skelton with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office said the incident will be investigated similar to a homicide as they gather more information.

“We usually treat all these as they would be like a homicide to begin with unless the evidence or anything else proves otherwise,” Skelton said. “Having said that, we’re awaiting preliminary autopsy results from the Midwest Medical Examiner’s office at this point, and we’re currently working the scene and other leads as we speak. ”

No word if authorities are searching for any suspects or other areas.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the BCA tip line at 1-877-996-6222.
