DULUTH, MN– Comic book fans in the Northland came together Friday at the first annual DuluCon.
The event was held at The Encounter.
It featured booths with tabletop games, cosplay contests, vendors, and an escape room.
Attendees dressed up as their favorite comic book characters.
Event organizers had humble expectations going into the first year of DuluCon, but the event sold out.
“There’s been a need in the community. We’ve seen there’s a lot of different pockets of people that like to get together and do this sort of thing, and there’s never been a huge event that brings them all together. We weren’t anticipating it to be this huge, so we’re really thrilled with how many people showed up,” Event organizer Mimi Effinger said.
DuluCon began on Friday, and ended Saturday evening.
Due to this weekend’s success, organizers say there are already plans in the works for next year’s convention.
