The low pressure system continues to depart our region and we are now on the backside of the system. Scattered snow showers and a light wintry mix will linger through about mid-morning. Skies remain cloudy this afternoon with a breezy W to NW wind around 10-20 mph, therefore, the cold temperatures will stick around. Highs today running 34-41, which is about 10-20 degrees below average.
Higher pressure will start moving in tonight, therefore, allowing winds to calm down to 5-10 mph. Skies will remain mostly cloudy throughout the night, however I expect some clearing off to our west overnight. Lows tonight remain on the cold side, running 22-28 inland and 28-32 lakeside.
The sunshine will return to kick off our weekend as the high pressure slides to our south. Temperatures still chilly, however, in the mid 30s to low 40s under Partly Cloudy to Mostly Sunny skies. Another quick low pressure system will move through on Saturday, bringing us a 30% chance of some scattered showers and a few snow showers as well. The wintry mix chance will last into Sunday as well as a cold front slides through Saturday night. Highs Saturday in the 40s to near 50, falling back into the mid 30s to low 40s Sunday.
Monday and Tuesday remain chilly with mid 30s to mid 40s; some sunshine is in the forecast Monday and then a cold front will bring another chance of some snow showers and a light wintry mix Monday night and into Tuesday. Models are indicating by the mid to end of next week a stretch of dry weather and temperatures potentially rebounding back into the 50s.
