Gusty winds today, but a rather pleasant weekend ahead

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

TODAY:

Our low pressure system continues to depart, but we will still see strong winds on the back side of this system. Scattered flurries will linger across the area, with lake effect snow showers along the South Shore. Winds trend northwest around 10-25 mph with gusts as high as 35-40 mph. Highs top out in the upper 20s to mid 30s.

TONIGHT:

Higher pressure slides down across the southern Plains, which will be strong enough to clear the skies from west to east throughout the night. Winds will calm too, trending northwest around 5-10 mph. Lows tonight will be a little on the cool side but closer to average, back into the single digits and teens.

LAKE SNOW TOTALS:

2-4″ can be found along the Snowbelt and into the U.P., with 1-3″ across Douglas and Bayfield counties.

WEEKEND:

The weekend looks pretty quiet and seasonable, so you shouldn’t have any issues celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Skies trend mostly sunny to partly cloudy Saturday, but clouds increase into Sunday as a wave in the jet stream moves through. Some spotty drizzle and flurries are possible Sunday, otherwise staying mostly cloudy. Highs through the weekend remain in the 30s. Lows fall back into the teens to near 20.

NEXT WEEK:

We begin next week with a mix of clouds and sunshine with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s. As we head towards the middle to end of next week, skies trend mostly sunny to sunny, with warm temperatures. Highs are forecasted to top out in the upper 40s to mid 50s, which will be about 15-20 degrees above average.
